DJ New Refineries to Add to Well-Supplied Market
New refineries under construction across the Middle East threaten to swamp global fuel markets, says ESAI Energy. The Boston consulting firm posits that rising gasoline, diesel and jet fuel output in Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE the next 5 years will alter trade patterns. ESAI sees that forcing big fuel exporters in the US and Asia to find new customers and keeping a lid on global refining margins. This year, new refineries will put 550K barrels/day of product on to the market, greatly exceeding projected fuel-demand growth. The trend continues from 2017-21, with ESAI expects 355K barrels a new output each year.
