Asia Diesel Demand to Remain Weak Due to Slowing China
[Dow Jones] Asia diesel demand will likely remain soft on the back of surging supply, says Energy Aspects, noting China's ongoing transformation from an industry-based economy to a service-based one means reduced demand for the commodity. Chinese demand represents 40% of Asia's total diesel consumption. "Chinese diesel demand grew by a paltry 12,000 barrels a day year-on-year in 2015, down from average annual growth of 180,000 barrels a day between 2003 and 2013. "The prognosis for 2016 is for growth to remain flat at best, as the restructuring of the economy continues," says the firm.
