Delays to New LNG Facilities Could Limit Price Losses
Delays to facilities due on line next month will moderate supply for the liquefied natural gas market, Energy Aspects say. This could limit first quarter LNG price falls. Traders are readying for oversupply in the market as new supply becomes available from projects in Australia, the U.S. and Angola. But it is likely that start-ups of the Australian Gorgon project and the Angola project will be delayed beyond January. Elsewhere, Eni is declaring force majeure on the Nigerian Bonny plant which could limit supply. LNG is trading globally at around $7.50 per million British thermal units for delivery this winter, a trader says.
